CicLAvia returns to DTLA this Sunday, Oct. 10 with Heart of LA! Enjoy six miles of open streets by bike, skate, or foot. People of all ages and abilities are welcome.

The Heart of LA route is easy to access via Metro with hubs near the L Line’s (Gold) Chinatown and Mariachi Plaza stations, and the B/D Line’s (Red/Purple) Civic Center/Grand Park and Westlake/MacArthur Park stations. Union Station is also near the route and is served by Metro Rail, the J Line (Silver), Metrolink and Amtrak. If you’re coming from the Westside or Long Beach, take the E Line (Expo) or A Line (Blue) to 7th St/Metro Center.

If you plan on riding your own bicycle at CicLAvia and will be taking Metro Rail to the event, here are a few tips to follow:

  • Avoid long lines at TAP vending machines by loading fare or a pass on your TAP card in advance.
  • Consider the TAP app for safe and easy contactless payment.
  • Bicyclists should use the wider ADA fare gates and NOT the turnstiles or emergency exit swing gates.
  • If boarding with bicycle, please use allocated bike area on trains to avoid blocking doors.
  • Bikes are prohibited on escalators and should be transported instead via elevators or stairs at all rail stations.

If you don’t have a bike but feel like riding, grab a Metro Bike! There are stations all around DTLA and we will have additional Metro Bikes at 7th and Flower as well.

One other fun note: this is sort of the 10th anniversary of the first CicLAvia that happened on Oct. 10, 2010, as last year’s 10th anniversary event had to be postponed due to the pandemic.

For more information about detours on Metro Bus lines during the event, visit Metro’s Service Advisory page or check Transit app. For more information on routes and connections, use Transit app or call 323.GO.METRO.

Please note that masks are currently required on public transit and in all indoor public places in Los Angeles County, as well as at events with over 10,000 attendees. If you forget your mask, there will be complimentary masks available at the CicLAvia Info Booths.

CicLAvia is funded through the Metro Open Streets Grant Program, which provides funding to one-day events that temporarily close city streets to cars and open them to people walking, biking and rolling. The goal of the program is to offer people opportunities to walk and bike on city streets, or try transit and foster civic engagement that supports walking, biking and skating projects and programs.
